TAMPA, Fla. — Hillsborough County Public Schools bus drivers who have at least 25 years of service with the district were recognized at the school board’s Sept. 1 meeting.

The 81 drivers have a combined 2,225 years of driving experience. Jim Beekman, general manager of transportation, called the veteran drivers “an amazing group.”

Hillsborough County Public Schools has a total of 1,050 drivers. The district runs 994 route buses, transporting about 87,000 students daily.

Beekman said that Hillsborough school bus attendants, mechanics and support staff who have at least 25 years of service will also be recognized soon.
