ANNAPOLIS, Md. — American Bus Sales and Service, a school bus dealer representing Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia, announced Trinity Renee Mitchell as the first recipient of its $1,000 scholarship award.

This scholarship will be granted each year to an individual connected to school bus operations in Maryland.

Mitchell is a student at Johnson and Wales University in North Miami, Florida. Her family has a long history of providing school bus services to Calvert County, which includes her great-great-grandfather, Allnut Reid, her great-grandfather, Leslie Reid, and her grandfather, Vaughn Reid Sr., who is currently a school bus contractor, according to American Truck & Bus Inc.

“It has offered me an abundance of opportunities to become successful in my life so that I can be of service to others,” Mitchell wrote in reference to the school bus industry.

“We want to give back to our industry by supporting education, and we are thrilled to award this scholarship to Trinity,” said Steve Leonard, president and CEO of American Truck & Bus Inc.

American Truck & Bus Inc. represents Thomas Built Buses, Daimler Sprinter vans and ElDorado National buses.
