MOORE, Okla. — Blue Bird Corp. recently presented a check for $10,000 to Moore Public Schools bus drivers who lost their homes during the recent tornado that struck the city.

The check was presented at the Oklahoma Association for Pupil Transportation gala dinner last week.

Included within the $10,000 donation is a corporate donation and contributions from employees of Blue Bird. Additionally, Blue Bird’s local Oklahoma dealer, Ross Transportation Inc., contributed $2,500 to Moore tornado victims through the American Red Cross.

“Blue Bird is humbled to present a check to the six Moore Public Schools bus drivers whose homes were destroyed during the recent tornado,” said Phil Horlock, president and CEO of Blue Bird Corp. “We recently announced to our 1,500 Blue Bird employees a forthcoming corporate donation, and our employees immediately requested to contribute their own money to the fund. This demonstrates that those in the transportation industry are a family — whether they build the buses, drive the buses, maintain the buses or support student transportation — we all look out for each other.”

“Serving communities throughout Oklahoma, Ross Transportation understands and sees firsthand the destruction that occurred to the city of Moore,” added Bill Ross, president of Ross Transportation Inc. “I have not met one person that is unaffected by the recent tornadoes that have come through the state. Ross Transportation is thankful that we can contribute to the rebuilding process for the residents of Moore.”

Kim Hamilton, executive director for the Oklahoma Association for Pupil Transportation, said that the community of Moore experienced widespread devastation from the recent tornado, and the six Moore Public Schools bus drivers will utilize the donation to assist with temporary residences while their homes are being rebuilt.

“We can’t thank Blue Bird and its employees enough for the considerate donation,” Hamilton added.
