PUEBLO, Colo. — Three school bus professionals from the Gunnison Watershed School District were honored here on Wednesday for excellence in their roles in pupil transportation.

At a luncheon during the Colorado Department of Education’s Transportation Summer Workshop, the Colorado State Pupil Transportation Association gave key awards to these Gunnison district staff members:

• Nanette Oswald — School Bus Driver of the Year
• Shari Weber — Operations Person of the Year
• Lori Smock — Lifetime Achievement Award (posthumous)

Smock, the Gunnison Watershed School District’s transportation coordinator, passed away recently after a long fight with cancer.

As previously reported, Terry Ruddick of Thompson School District won the Colorado State Pupil Transportation Association’s Fleet Person of the Year award.
