HINTON, W.Va. — A Summers County school bus recently struck a black bear while the driver was starting his morning route, the Register-Herald reports.
Summers County Schools Superintendent Vicki Hinerman told the news source that there were no students on the bus, no one was injured and there was no damage done to the bus in the incident.
After being hit, the bear ran into the woods and was later located by Department of Natural Resources officers, who euthanized it due to the severity of its injuries.
