TAMPA, Fla. — Road closures and increased traffic will be among the challenges for the local school district’s transportation department during the Republican National Convention next month, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Hillsborough County Public Schools transportation officials are preparing alternate routes and other busing changes, particularly for schools around the downtown convention area. Alternate busing plans will go into effect before the convention so staff and students can get used to the different routes.

Also, school security officers will ride buses that transport students near the convention.
