SALT LAKE CITY — Police have released security camera images of a man who stole a school bus, then crashed into a police car and a tree before running away, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

The bus was stolen from a district motor pool parking lot last Thursday at about 5 a.m. A security guard saw the vehicle being driven away and called 911. A Utah Highway Patrol trooper spotted and chased the vehicle on Interstate 15 and onto Interstate 80, where the bus crashed into a police canine unit and another car before exiting the highway.

Salt Lake police found the bus shortly thereafter. The driver had crashed the bus into a tree and fled the scene. Subsequent searches failed to locate the driver. No one other than the thief was aboard the bus, and no injuries were reported from the crashes, according to the Tribune.
