HOUSTON — The Harris County district attorney's office is reviewing video tape from a school bus camera that reportedly captured an incident in which a Houston Independent School District (ISD) police officer allegedly assaulted a student.

The 16-year-old student got on the bus after he was suspected of being involved in an on-campus fight, the Houston Chronicle reports. A school administrator then sought the officer's help in removing the student from the bus.

Houston ISD police chief Jimmie Dotson instigated an investigation after reviewing the tape. A community activist told the Chronicle the student was taken to a hospital with multiple jaw fractures. The officer involved in the incident has been stripped of police authority and placed on desk duty.
