BURLINGTON, N.C. — The Alamance-Burlington Board of Education last week approved a change to the district's policy allowing students to be dropped off at a day care center instead of home after school.

Now, students will be dropped off at their after-school program only if the center is on their home route, the Times-News reports.

The system's previous policy had allowed for children to be dropped off at day cares on bus routes other than their home route, if the routes were in the same attendance zone.

Parents and day care program managers expressed concern about the change, worried that it harms the viability of some programs and doesn't give parents enough time to plan for the next school year.
