School bus manufacturer Lion Bus and alternative-fuel conversion systems supplier NGV Motori have formed an alliance to manufacture an OEM Type C school bus powered by compressed natural gas (CNG).

The companies unveiled the CNG bus at the Alternative Clean Transportation Expo in Dallas on May 7.

“Over the past years, our customers have often requested an OEM CNG solution school bus to complement our well-known CNG conversion packages,” said Fury Zaidi, president of NGV Motori, adding that the partnership with Lion Bus will serve "an obvious need in the evolving field of clean energy student transportation.”

The new bus is powered by an NGV Motori International DT466 CNG engine.

Marc Bedard, president of Lion Bus, said that the CNG bus is “a production-ready reality, with orders being taken now for fourth quarter 2015 deliveries.”

Sales and distribution of the bus will be overseen by First Priority Bus Sales.
