Student Transportation of America Inc. (STA) purchased 18 propane autogas school buses manufactured by Collins Bus Corp.
The NexBus units, which are expected to run 15,000 miles annually, are currently being delivered to two school districts in Pennsylvania: Hempfield School District and East Penn School District. The buses will be used to transport children to and from school on a daily basis and for extracurricular trips.
The NexBus is built on a dual rear wheel GM chassis and is powered by a liquid propane injection system by CleanFUEL USA. The product exhibits excellent cold weather starting, has an estimated range in excess of 300 miles, and is available in capacities up to 32 passengers, CleanFUEL USA officials said.
"We continue to add propane-powered vehicles to our fleet thanks to the multiple advantages the fuel offers, and we look forward to a long-term relationship, including the superb maintenance support offered by Collins Bus Corp.," said Denis Gallagher, CEO of STA parent company Student Transportation Inc.
