FORT VALLEY, Ga. — Blue Bird was a featured presenter at the Propane Engine Fuel Summit, which recently wrapped up in Chantilly, Va. Blue Bird’s Roger Howsmon, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of sales, and Rusty Mitchell, product marketing director, were on hand for a presentation and panel discussion.

The company presented an update on its Propane-Powered Vision Type C school and activity bus. Mitchell reported that the 77-passenger unit, with a 31,000 gross vehicle weight rating, is the only large OEM propane-powered school bus on route.

“The bus meets and exceeds all federal and Canadian motor vehicle standards,” Howsmon added. “The company is experiencing an uptick in orders based upon operator satisfaction that includes all-weather performance and lower fuel, maintenance and operating costs.”

Howsmon went on to say that there are 829 propane-powered Vision buses on route or on order across North America, with units in operation in 16 states and two Canadian provinces.

The Propane Engine Fuel Summit, which was sponsored by the Propane Education Research Council (PERC), was recorded and will be available on the PERC Website, www.propanecouncil.org, Blue Bird officials said.
