The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded grants totaling $7.5 million to reduce school bus emissions. As part of the EPA’s Clean School Bus USA program for 2005, 37 operations will share the funds to buy new cleaner-diesel or natural-gas buses, retrofit older buses with exhaust-reduction equipment and purchase alternative fuels, such as ultra-low-sulfur diesel and biodiesel. More information is available at www.epa.gov/cleanschoolbus.
