AURORA, Ontario — Landmark Student Transportation acquired two Northern Ontario bus operators on Tuesday: Northway Bus Lines Inc. in Val Caron and Alouette Bus Lines Ltd. in Sturgeon Falls.
Both businesses were owned by Daniel Joanis, a former director of the Ontario School Bus Association who has been active in advancing the interests of the Ontario student transportation industry.
“I’m pleased to be turning the businesses over to Landmark,” Joanis said. “They were the right match for us. I’m comfortable that Northway and Alouette are in capable hands.”
About 200 people are employed by the two companies. All staff will stay on under the new ownership, Landmark said in an announcement.
John Turney, vice president of operations for Landmark, said that both Northway and Alouette "have built a solid reputation with Sudbury Student Services Consortium and Nipissing Parry Sound Student Transportation Services. We look forward to continuing their tradition of safety and reliability.”
