WARRENVILLE, Ill. — School bus contracting veteran John Elliott, who previously served as interim president and CEO of National Express Corp., will continue with the company in a new position.
Elliott will focus on customer and employee relations and will represent Durham School Services and Stock Transportation (the two operations that make up National Express Corp.) within the industry.
“We are glad to have John in this newly created role,” said David Duke, the new president and CEO of National Express Corp. “John has always been an advocate for our customers and employees, and we look forward to his continued counsel in those areas.”
Duke noted that Elliott’s service on the National School Transportation Association (NSTA) board of directors and his involvement in other groups “will enhance the organization’s relationships within the industry.”
Elliott has been involved in student transportation for 39 years. He has been an active member of NSTA for more than 20 years and recently was elected to its board, serving a term through 2013.
In 2006, Elliott received the NSTA Hall of Fame Award in recognition of his years of dedication and excellence in the industry.

School bus drivers and monitors in New York joined Teamsters, while others in Alaska and Ontario face ongoing strikes over wages and contracts.
