BALTIMORE, Md. — After recently recruiting U.S. Rep. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) to speak at its annual gathering, the National School Transportation Association (NSTA) has attracted another high-profile speaker.

The school bus contractor association announced on Tuesday that U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will address attendees at its Annual Meeting and Convention.

"Based upon how the secretary dealt with the audience at the Love the Bus event last February, convention goers are in for an enlightening talk from an individual who is very familiar with school bus issues and the important role this industry plays as the safest means of transportation," NSTA said in an announcement.

The Annual Meeting and Convention will be held July 16-20 in Baltimore. LaHood is scheduled to speak on July 19 at 8:30 a.m.
