ORLANDO, Fla. — The National School Transportation Association (NSTA) convened here in late January for its annual Midwinter Meeting.

It was a highly productive meeting in which attendees were given the latest industry information and worked on association projects.

The first day of the meeting included legislative and regulatory updates from Becky Weber of BKSH & Associates, NSTA’s lobbyist, and Robin Leeds, NSTA’s industry specialist.

The updates focused on how the change in administration and the Democratic majority will affect the school bus industry. There was also discussion of the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on school bus operations; members were encouraged to support the proposal by submitting comments to the FTA.

During the second day of the meeting, attendees worked on association initiatives, including projects from the business development and government relations committees. On the third day, the NSTA board of directors met.

Attendees were treated to a variety of networking opportunities, including a golf tournament and evening functions.

The next NSTA event is the Annual Meeting and Convention, to be held in Greensboro, N.C., July 19-22.
