GREENSBORO, N.C. — Cherokee County School District in Canton, Ga., is installing Gasboy fleet fueling and fleet management systems at the second of four fueling sites for the county's 392 school buses this month.

The turnkey solution includes Gasboy Atlas dispensers, Islander PLUS fleet management systems and Gasboy Fleet Head Office management software.

The Islander PLUS cardlock system limits fuel access to only authorized drivers and vehicles. The Fleet Head Office software documents mileage and fuel consumed to help administrators proactively manage preventive maintenance.

"The Gasboy Atlas dispensers and island card readers are built tough to perform well over time in the unique unattended fleet fueling environment," said David Gazaway, coordinator of vehicle maintenance for the school district. "We installed the first system two years ago and have been pleased with the reliability and low cost of ownership. So, we will equip the other two fueling sites with the same systems."

Cherokee County School District transports approximately 25,000 students on morning routes and 27,000 students in the afternoon, which is about 70 percent of the student population. The district's transportation department runs 1,500 routes each day, for a total of more than 4.5 million miles each year.
