FORT VALLEY, Ga. — Roger Howsmon has assumed the position of Blue Bird Corp.’s senior advisor. He will report to Greg Bennett, the company’s president and CEO.

Bennett said that in his new role, Howsmon will continue his involvement with special projects and act as Blue Bird’s ambassador to the industry’s trade associations, councils and conferences.

Howsmon is the Blue Bird representative for the American School Bus Council, and he will present at key industry events and contribute to executive-level meetings for such organizations as the National School Transportation Association, the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services and the National Association for Pupil Transportation.

Howsmon joined Blue Bird in January 2007 as chief marketing officer and senior vice president of sales and has led the marketing and sales teams responsible for Blue Bird’s sales in the school and activity bus market segments.

His management experience also includes serving as general manager and chief operating officer for Peterbilt Trucks; president of Perkins Engines, North America; president and owner of Sierra Detroit Diesel-Allison Dealership in California; executive vice president of Fleetwood Enterprises; and vice president of sales and service for Cummins Engine Co.
