ALBANY, N.Y. — This year’s “Americas’ Best” competition finals will be held Sept. 22 to 25 in Greenville, S.C. The sixth annual competition will be hosted by Michelin America.

The National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) and the National School Bus Inspection Council sponsor the nationwide search for America’s Best school bus technician and inspector.

Participants in the competition must complete a written evaluation of their knowledge. In addition, technicians complete a diagnostics test, and inspectors perform an inspection. The competition is integrated with workshops covering school bus components and systems.

The annual competition is co-sponsored and underwritten in part by ASE, Hydrotex, Bus Parts Warehouse and Zonar Systems.

Bus Parts Warehouse and Zonar each provide a scholarship that enables the top technician and inspector to attend the annual NAPT conference.

Participants in the Americas’ Best competition are selected by state or provincial associations, or other appropriate state or province-level governmental agencies. For more information about selection criteria or association contacts, e-mail Bill Tousley at bill.tousley@farmington.k12.mi.us.
