2010 Photo Contest

The sixth edition of our Photo Contest drew 130 inventive entries from nearly 40 industry professionals and enthusiasts. Here, we present those that were selected as winners, runners-up and noteworthy entries. The three winners earned $100 each.

15th National Congress on School Transportation

The 15th National Congress on School Transportation (NCST) convened in Warrensburg, Mo., May 16-19, 2010. Delegates revised the National School Bus Specifications and Procedures document, updating it from the 2005 version. The next congress meets in 2015.

School Bus Refurbishment Project

An Ohio school district's transportation department restored a 1992 model year school bus over a two-month period in 2001 as part of the operation's bus refurbishing program. The bus is still being used to transport students.

Antique Bus Restoration

A leafy deciduous tree was growing through the middle of the 1947 International school bus when it was uprooted and sold to Southland Transportation in 2002. About a year later, the maintenance team at the Calgary, Alberta-based company decided to restore the run-down bus to celebrate the province's centennial. Despite the vehicle's condition, the staff became excited at the thought of such a major restoration project. "It was a total derelict, but the guys in the shop rallied around it," says Harry Davis, Southland's manager of fleet and facilities. For 18 months, Southland's technicians and volunteers dedicated numerous hours to the project.

NAPT 2006

The NAPT's 32nd Annual Conference and Trade Show features a bus-rail crash demonstration and seminars on emergency response, as well as a new leadership initiative.

NSTA Conference Scrapbook - 2009

The National School Transportation Association hosted its annual meeting and convention in Greensboro, N.C., in July. School bus drivers competed there in the 39th annual International School Bus Driver Safety Competition.

2008 Photo Contest

The fourth edition of our annual Photo Contest drew a record number of entries. More than 40 pupil transportation professionals submitted a total of 185 shots. SBF's editorial staff selected the winners (who each earned $100), runners-up and several other noteworthy entries.

2009 Photo Contest

Once again, we present the eye-catching photography from across the pupil transportation community. In the fifth edition of our Photo Contest, we've done away with the categories and opened it up to all types of school bus-related shots. The three winners raked in $100 each.
