Teens charged in incident involving stolen bus

The boys are charged with receiving stolen property after police connect two separate events. They find one boy in the parking lot of a service station and the two other boys standing near a school bus parked on a street. Police determine the bus had recently been stolen, and based on property in the teens’ possession, police link them to a burglary at the service station.

The Bullying Prevention on the School Bus course depicts real-life bullying situations and explains the difference between bullying and simple conflict. It teaches school bus drivers how to enlist the help of everyone on the bus to make it safer.
Nearly 40 industry suppliers exhibited at the conference’s vendor show. Outgoing CASTO President Pam McDonald said about 300 people attended this year’s conference and vendor show.

Officials at North Attleboro (Mass.) Public Schools say they will cut the bus stops in September, which will save $47,000 annually. The stops being considered for elimination fall outside of the district's current transportation guidelines, which surpass Massachusetts' busing requirements.
Man charged in theft of 26 bus batteries

Ronnie Roberts, 29, is believed to have broken into buses at a high school in South Carolina to steal the batteries. He is charged with 12 counts of breaking into a motor vehicle and 12 counts of petit larceny.
Bus driver dead after crashing into city building

Kelly Smith, a driver for a Pennsylvania school district, is found on the ground outside the building after she crashed her bus into it. Officials investigating the accident say Smith was ejected from the bus and may have died prior to the crash.
New York districts challenge mandated laws, regulations

Officials at school systems around the state point to the costliness of the mandates, which include providing busing and other aid to children attending private schools as a benefit to those taxpayers. In response to officials’ complaints, Gov. Andrew Cuomo convened a statewide mandate-relief committee, and the Board of Regents has identified laws it considers outdated.

Officials at a Connecticut district say that schools can use travel agents to book field trips, but the district must be notified of the carrier, and registration and insurance coverage checks will be made. The news comes after 250 students were transported on tour buses for which the registration had lapsed and the insurance had been canceled.
District to save $10M with school bell time changes

Officials at Clark County School District in Las Vegas say the changes, which were made in response to $411 million in proposed budget cuts, will also increase bus routing efficiency. As part of the restructuring, approximately 200 routes will be eliminated.
