NAPT special-needs training program offered nationwide

The association’s Special Needs Training Program will be available throughout the year at various events around the country. The curriculum explores such issues as the legal basis for special-needs transportation, and activities include observation of or participation in a special-needs roadeo and attendance at a trade show featuring special-needs products and services.

Fifteen of the contractor’s employees will participate in the National School Transportation Association’s 40th Annual School Bus Driver International Safety Competition this Saturday and Sunday in St. Louis. Competitors will complete a driving skills challenge and a written exam.

Cook-Illinois drivers excel during roadeo

David Jensen, Archie Banks and Jerry Heim, who work for subsidiaries of the school bus contractor, take the top three spots in the Illinois School Bus Safety Roadeo's semi-finals. They were required to complete a pre-trip inspection, participate in driving skills challenges and take a written exam.
NSTA Convention to Cover Current Industry Issues

Sessions at this year’s event will provide the latest information on such topics as clean diesel and school bus advocacy projects. Activities will focus on bus security and the stranded-pupil problem. NSTA is also stepping up its efforts to recognize contestants in the School Bus Driver International Safety Competition. 

STA drivers win 11 trophies at roadeo

Twelve school bus drivers representing the contractor competed in the 57th Annual Southern California Sectional Roadeo this month. Among the awards they received was the team title in the Best Represented category. Trophy winners will compete in the State Championship Roadeo this Sunday.
Georgia team wins national special-needs roadeo

David O’Keeffe and Jacquelyn Turner of Clayton County Public Schools placed first during the 13th National Special Needs Team Safety Roadeo. Tammy Roberson and Tammy Labaro of Moravia (N.Y.) Central School District placed second, and Tyrone Pickney and Thomas Orr of Jasper County Schools in Ridgeland, S.C., placed third.
