Nonprofit aims to help veterans find yellow busing jobs

The Warriors in the Workplace organization debuted at the National Association for Pupil Transportation Summit last week, informing attendees of its initiative to help U.S. military members get back to work in the civilian sector — specifically the pupil transportation industry. President and Executive Director John Birmingham tells SBF that veterans can look for available jobs on the organization’s website.

Thomas Built to develop CNG-fueled Type C

The school bus manufacturer announces at the NAPT Summit that it will develop a Saf-T-Liner C2 powered by compressed natural gas. Also, Thomas Built’s new propane Type A is now in production, and its propane Type C is expected to be available next year.

Saudi Arabia to hold 1st school transportation conference

The event comes as the Middle Eastern nation plans to increase its number of school buses from 12,000 to 60,000 over the next five years. The Ministry of Education says that more female students will have access to school transportation, and service will be expanded to male students and female teachers.

Calif. DOE gears up for special-needs conference

More officials complete NAPT special-needs training

Colleen Cavanaugh of Pupil Transportation Consulting Inc., Barbara Rendon with Humble Independent School District and Theresa Anderson with Anderson Consulting LLC complete the Special Needs Transportation Training Program. The program has a curriculum that consists of six special-needs courses, and it is supplemented by two courses of elective instruction from the NAPT Professional Development Series Program.
Pupil transporters gear up for Canadian conference

The 2012 Canadian Pupil Transportation Conference will be held in Lake Louise, Alberta, April 17-21. The event will include a trade show and educational workshops and sessions. Speakers will discuss such issues as bullying and transporting students with special needs.
