The Type A school bus manufacturer has upgraded many of the features on its buses to give technicians improved access to several areas as they perform maintenance. Among the changes: Bigger access holes were added behind the warning lights, and wires were rerouted below instead of in the wall for rear lighting.

Allied Specialty Vehicles forms bus group, names Kent Tyler CEO

Tyler, the former president of Collins Bus Corp., will lead the new Allied Specialty Vehicles (ASV) Bus Division. The group will include Type A school bus brands Collins, Mid Bus and Corbeil as well as seven bus brands from ASV’s recent acquisition of Thor Industries’ bus business.
Thomas Built to launch CNG-powered Type A school bus

The manufacturer is now starting pilot production of a compressed natural gas (CNG) Minotour, with official production slated to start in the first quarter of 2014. The CNG model will utilize a GM 6-liter engine on the 4500 series cutaway chassis.

John Phraner will replace Dan Daniels, who plans to leave the Type A school bus manufacturer before the end of the year to be closer to his family. Phraner spent the last 22 years at North East Fabricators as the general manager, and the company has been a supplier to Trans Tech.
