Bus vandalism causes Ind. district to close schools

Batteries were stolen and cables were cut on 26 to 28 Metropolitan School District of Warren Township buses over the weekend, forcing the closure on Monday. Superintendent Dr. Peggy Hinckley says that district officials learned that the thefts and vandalism may be related to other, similar thefts that occurred over the weekend.

Last year, most private school families carpooled on the holiday, but after a resident raised the issue at a board meeting earlier this year, public school officials looked into the matter, and private bus companies serving the schools were told they have to work.

Company helps Calif. district ‘green’ fleet with biodiesel

Buster Biofuels partners with Legoland California, the San Diego Padres and other entities to collect their grease and oil, recycling it into biodiesel to power San Dieguito Union High School District buses. Bus company requests dismissal of lawsuit from former driver

The contractor is being sued by Ken Webber, who was fired for refusing to take a Confederate flag with the word "redneck" on it off of his pickup truck, which was parked in a lot owned by a school district that the contractor serves. The company says that Webber considered the flag to be an expression of his identity and lifestyle, and that therefore, his flag is not constitutionally protected speech because its message is not a matter of public concern.
