We have a 2008 Maxxforce DT in a CE300 School Bus with a warning light coming on intermittently. It is to the left of the steering wheel, above it at about a 45 degree angle. The operators manual says that it is an Engine Emissions Control System Malfunction Indicator Lamp. It is an exclamation mark with smoke shooting through it to the right. The description says that it "Illuminates yellow along with the Diesel Particulate Filter Status lamp to indicate that the DPF is full. (But the DPF status light is not on and there are no other symptoms.) I called SPX and they have bumped the release date of the fleet software to communicate with this engine back to mid-December. Any ideas on what might cause this light to illuminate intermittently with no other symptoms.
I know on the Freightliners there is a lamp similar to this that comes on occasionally, and I believe it is there to show that hot exhaust is coming out from a regen cycle. Is it possible that Navistar has the same feature?
you are explaining the light that warns of faults in the system. if you look there should be a sticker over the left side window explaining all the lights. there should also be a card in the operators pack that says the same thing. its an exclaimation mark with exhaust blowing through it. (Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) – Indicates emission related faults not associated with soot level.)you will need to have this looked at or codes retrieved.
