A pertinent new resource provides information on charter schools for families and educators of special-needs students.

The guide, from the National Dissemination Center for Children With Disabilities (which is abbreviated as NICHCY because of an earlier version of its name), answers 10 commonly asked questions about charter schools, including whether they are responsible for providing transportation.

"In some states, yes, charter schools are responsible for providing students with transportation to and from school," the document explains. "In other states, the district in which the school resides may be responsible for providing transportation."
