ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — A 3-year-old boy who was found unconscious on a school bus here last month and later died at a hospital has been identified.

Kevin Cisler, a developmentally disabled student who attended a special-needs school in Dana Point, was found slumped over in his wheelchair on the bus on March 25, City News Service reports. The mother of another special-needs child saw that Cisler was unconscious and got the bus driver, who called 911, authorities told the news source.

Jim Amormino, spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Department, told The Orange County Register that an autopsy was conducted on March 28, but officials have not yet pinpointed the cause of the student's death.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department and the California Highway Patrol are investigating the death, which includes determining whether Cisler was strapped in properly on the bus, officer Eric Barnard of the California Highway Patrol told The Orange County Register.
