PORTLAND, Ore. — Among the many new products on display at this year’s National Association for Pupil Transportation trade show was the Q’UBE from Q’Straint.

The Q’UBE is an integrated wheelchair securement module that can be installed or retrofitted in school, transit and paratransit buses. It has a low-profile design to fit under wheelchair footrests, and it can be permanently mounted to the vehicle floor or installed on transit barriers or seat legs with full adjustability.

The Q’UBE features the XPress Mechanical Delay System. An easy-to-reach, single-motion release mechanism has a positive locked and unlocked position, giving the user 15 seconds to properly position and secure the rear of the wheelchair.

Finally, the Q’UBE has self-tensioning and self-locking rear securements with J-hooks to prevent the securements from becoming twisted and tangled. The rear retractors on the device are fully automatic to help reduce the physical demand on drivers and bus aides, and the Q’UBE also features retractable occupant belts.
