PHOENIX — A veteran pair of pupil transportation professionals placed first in the Eighth Annual National Special Needs Team Roadeo.

Driver Ed Lipsey and attendant Ann England of the Orange County School District in Orlando, Fla., also took the top honor in the 2003 and 2001 roadeos.

This year’s event drew 25 teams from 12 states and the District of Columbia, marking the largest field of competitors since the roadeo’s inception.

Brothers Antonio and Joel Nino from the San Benito (Texas) Consolidated Independent School District took second place, while Clayton Terry and Shelley Johnson from the Cypress (Texas) Independent School District took third.

The roadeo was administered by the Edupro Group and the National Association for Pupil Transportation. Major sponsorship was provided by Sure-Lok Inc.
