Man illegally passes 4 school buses, sideswipes 3 cars
An employee at a Rhode Island school writes down Michael J. Lewis' license plate number and calls the police, who charge Lewis with driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of an accident, and cite him for passing four occupied school buses.
NEWPORT, R.I. — Newport Patch reports that Newport police charged Michael J. Lewis on Monday with driving with a suspended license and a warrant after he allegedly passed four parked and loaded school buses with red lights flashing and stop arms extended behind Frank E. Thompson Middle School.
A school employee who was keeping watch around dismissal time wrote down Lewis' license plate number and called the police.
Police told the news outlet that as Lewis drove past the buses, the bus drivers honked their horns to get him to stop and the school employee stepped into the roadway to get Lewis to stop by yelling at him. Lewis then sideswiped three parked cars, causing damage to each one, before fleeing the scene.
Police also charged Lewis with leaving the scene of an accident and cited him for passing four occupied school buses.
