Bus driver rear-ends bus, 15 students injured

MANATEE, Fla. — The Bradenton Herald reports that, on Monday, after a bus driver rear-ended another school bus, 15 Moody Elementary School students were injured and taken to the hospital.

The bus in front had to stop suddenly for heavy traffic, and the driver of the trailing bus did not stop in time. Trooper Kenn Watson of the Florida Highway Patrol told the paper that the driver of the trailing bus, who was not identified, will be cited for careless driving. He added that while the buses were not moving that fast, the impact caused children to be thrown from their seats and hit with broken glass.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the School District of Manatee County released a statement on its Facebook page, which said that all 15 injured students were transported to hospitals after the accident, treated for minor injuries and released.
