BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. — The city of Bonner Springs declared Monday “First Responders Day” in honor of men and women who came to the aid of those involved in a school bus crash last week, 41 Action News reports.  

More than 60 people, including first responders, fire rescue teams, police, paramedics and civilians, received certificates and thanks from the community for their actions. Many did not have experience dealing with such an accident, according to the news outlet, but with their training, they were able to rescue everyone on board the bus.

No one was killed in the crash, and there were few serious injuries.
