BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. — Twenty-two students sustained injuries when their school bus tipped onto its side en route to an overnight camp last week, The Kansas City Star reports.

The Kansas Highway Patrol told the news outlet that the bus was on the ramp from southbound Kansas 7 when the tires on the passenger side left the road. The driver attempted to steer back onto the road. The rear of the bus slid down an embankment and the bus turned onto its passenger side.

Officials described the students’ injuries as noncritical, or “minor” to “moderate.” Also, according to the highway patrol’s report, neither the driver nor any of the injured children were wearing safety restraints.
