Teen charged in school bus shooting
According to a Miami Herald report, the 15-year-old accused in last week’s fatal shooting had sneaked the gun to school before and shown it to classmates. He is charged with manslaughter and carrying a concealed weapon, although prosecutors have not yet decided whether to charge him as an adult.
HOMESTEAD, Fla. — The 15-year-old accused in the fatal shooting on a school bus here last week had sneaked the gun to school before, according to The Miami Herald.
The news source reported that on at least one other occasion, the teen had taken the weapon from the top shelf of his parent’s closet, put it in his book bag and shown it to classmates. Those who saw it didn’t tell teachers, parents or police, according to The Herald.
The day after the shooting, which resulted in the death of a 13-year-old girl, the 15-year-old boy was charged with manslaughter and carrying a concealed weapon. Prosecutors are scheduled to decide on Dec. 11 whether to charge him as an adult.
