HELENA, Mont. — The Helena School District will be the first in the state to require lap-shoulder belts on its buses, KXLH Helena reports.

The school board approved a seven-year contract with First Student that specifies the three-point restraints on all buses. The contractor is to bring in a new fleet of belt-equipped buses.

"They are an added safety for our students, and we just think it was worth the cost,” Tom Cohn, transportation manager for the district, told the news source.
