BAINBRIDGE, Ohio — Paint Valley Local Schools bus driver Mark Anderson was recognized recently for his actions to keep students safe during a crash involving his bus and a car, the Chillicothe Gazette reports.
On Oct. 5, Anderson turned the bus into a soybean field after James Hill, in the car, collided head-on with the bus. This helped to prevent the bus from rolling over, Paint Valley Local Schools Superintendent Gary Uhrig said during a ceremony honoring Anderson, in which he received an award of merit.
An onboard video also showed Anderson instructing the students to remain calm, help one another and to exit the back of the bus.
