DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — No bond was set for the 51-year-old motorist who is accused of striking and killing 17-year-old Brandy Hart as she left her school bus on Tuesday, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

District Attorney David McDade told Channel 2 that the court “is concerned with the mental status of this client, and as a result, the court is declining to set bond at this time.”

Police said that the accident happened around 7 p.m. on Tuesday — the student was returning from an after-school event — and the bus was stopped with its red lights and stop arm activated.
