NASHVILLE, Tenn. — An unusual incident on a school bus on Friday led to citations for both a student passenger and the driver.

According to police, students claimed that Bettie Williamson, a Nashville bus driver who is not regularly on their route, was missing stops.

“They reportedly became unruly and began demanding that she stop,” a Metropolitan Nashville Police Department press release said.

A 15-year-old girl allegedly stood up and grabbed the steering wheel, but Williamson maintained control of the bus and turned around. She drove back to a high school and reported the incident.

Police said Williamson acknowledged that she ignored stop signs during the return trip.

Williamson was issued a state misdemeanor citation for reckless endangerment. The 15-year-old was issued a juvenile misdemeanor citation, also for reckless endangerment.

what kind of school bus driver goes thru stop signs? She needs to be pulled OFF the road until she comprehends the danger she put herself, the students and the public in when she did this.

It's a no win situation when dealing with unruley kids.
