Congressman to push for National School Bus Safety Week

Under a presidential proclamation that Congressman Baron Hill will introduce next month, the third week in October of every year would be designated National School Bus Safety Week.

Under a presidential proclamation that Congressman Baron Hill will introduce next month, the third week in October of every year would be designated National School Bus Safety Week.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Baron Hill (D-Ind.) will introduce a presidential proclamation next month designating the third week in October of every year as National School Bus Safety Week. 

Gerry Oram, a member of the National School Bus Safety Week committee, is urging industry professionals to show their support for this effort by contacting their congressmen and congresswomen and encouraging them to vote “yes” when the bill comes to the floor.

We still have so many people flying past buses that hopefully parents will step up and turn in these individuals. The driver is busy watching his children that he never sees the cars until they fly by.

Thank you to Congressman Baron Hill. This is a tremendous plus for school transportation to get the recognition so deserving. This is an opportunity to allow the nation to recognize the professionals throughout the industry who have made school buses the safest form of transportation.
