Calif. bill would allow exterior school bus ads
Senate Bill 1295 would enable school districts to choose whether to sell ad space on the exterior of buses, and choose how to spend any revenue raised. The state currently allows ads inside buses.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Republican State Sen. Bob Huff has introduced a bill that would allow districts to choose whether to sell advertising on the outside of their school buses, and choose how to spend any revenue raised, The Sacramento Bee reports.
Bill Bird, a spokesman for Huff, told the news source that they're looking "for a way for districts to find another source of funding without placing additional burdens on taxpayers."
Senate Bill 1295 comes at a time when one-third of public school students in California attend a district that is in financial jeopardy, according to State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson. The state currently allows advertising inside buses.
