TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Legislation that would permit advertisements on school buses in Florida was narrowly passed by the Senate Prekindergarten-12 Committee on Monday, The Associated Press reports.

SB 344 was passed by a 4-2 vote. It would have died without support from Sen. Larcenia Bullard, a critic of the bill, who said she only voted for it so that its sponsor, Sen. Bill Montford, would have a chance to improve it.

The bus ad bill has been referred to two more committees in the Senate.
