INDIANAPOLIS — With just over a year to go before the industry convenes for the 15th National Congress on School Transportation (NCST), its steering committee met here to prepare for the eminent event, which takes place every five years.

The committee reviewed the status of resolutions approved by delegates to the 14th NCST. Steering Committee Chair Pete Baxter said that action has been taken on all 11 resolutions.

Writing committees are preparing recommended changes to the 2005 National School Transportation Specifications and Procedures document. Although the deadline to submit comments has passed, late recommendations are still being accepted and will receive consideration by the writing committees.

The steering committee selected Terry Voy, former Iowa state director of pupil transportation and a longtime industry advocate, to be the on-site congress chairperson to conduct the delegate proceedings.

The 15th NCST will be held at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, May 15-21, 2010.
