FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — School bus seating supplier HSM treated 75 school bus drivers to breakfast on Feb. 11 as part of North Carolina’s Love the Bus celebration.

Love the Bus events were held nationwide in February in celebration of school bus drivers and the benefits of school bus transportation.

North Carolina State Superintendent June Atkinson helped the Wake County Public School System honor its bus drivers by riding on a school bus taking students to Herbert Akins Road Elementary School in Fuquay-Varina on Feb. 11. After arriving at the school, Atkinson joined 75 bus drivers for a breakfast sponsored by HSM, which is based in Hickory, N.C.

David Murphy, market manager for HSM Transportation Solutions, also provided the drivers with HSM T-shirts featuring the “Stop for a Life” logo, which highlights the need for motorists to obey the school bus stop-arm law.

“At HSM, we appreciate the opportunity to thank these men and women, who provide access to education as they safely drive our children to and from school every day,” Murphy said. “It is our hope that everyone — parents, students, teachers and administrators — will show their appreciation for this important service, not just this month, but throughout the year.”
