KOJONUP, Australia — Kojonup Bus Service has become the first school bus contractor in Australia to adopt the Child Check-Mate System.

The Child Check-Mate device reminds drivers to check for sleeping children at the end of each run.

Kojonup Bus Service, which is a division of Transport Systems Australia, plans to equip its entire fleet with the system over the next few months.

“We have a reputation of delivering safe and reliable service, and our drivers obviously play a huge role in developing that reputation," said Travis Bower, Kojonup's depot manager. "Our drivers are a conscientious and safety-oriented group of professionals, and we place a lot of emphasis on driver training. But we’re all human, and everyone can benefit from that extra reminder — especially when it can save a life.”

Kojonup tested a few systems in January and has since installed the Child Check-Mate System on most fleet vehicles.

Child Check-Mate worked closely with Kojonup to deliver a system that is suitable for Australia’s requirements.

“We were very happy to work with Kojonup Bus Service over the past few months and are grateful for all of the insight they've afforded us," said Brad Both, director of business development at Child Check-Mate. "We reviewed every part of the installation and operation of the system with Kojonup Bus Service’s staff and believe that we have a solution which will work exceptionally well in Australia.”
