HICKORY, N.C. — Valerie Reid has been promoted to chief financial officer of Hickory Springs Manufacturing Co., effective immediately.

Hickory Springs is a supplier of components to the transportation, furniture and bedding markets, among others. Earlier this year, it acquired C.E. White Co.

Reid will report directly to Dave Colburn, Hickory Springs’ president and CEO.

“I am delighted to welcome Valerie to her new position,” Colburn said. “Her proven track record as an instrumental member of our finance team and her personal strengths and attributes instill confidence in her ability to keep Hickory Springs on a solid financial footing as we seize new opportunities to move and grow in new directions.”

Reid brings to her new position more than 14 years’ experience with Hickory Springs. Hired as a senior accountant in 1999, she held several positions, including corporate controller and director, treasury and analysis, before being promoted to the position of finance director in 2011. Last year, she was named corporate assistant treasurer, which is the position she held prior to her recent promotion.

Reid earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She holds an active certified public accountant license and is a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.
