Nelson's Bus Service to assist in police training event
The company, which is a provider of school and commercial buses, will loan two school buses for use during police training exercises at the irTactical Active Shooter Training in June. Officials say the buses will provide officers with a “realistic training environment” for shooting scenarios that could occur on school buses.
WHITEWATER, Wis. — Nelson's Bus Service will provide two school buses for use during police training exercises at the irTactical Active Shooter Training event in June.
The company, which operates, sells and services school and commercial buses, is loaning two standard size buses for the training. One of the buses is equipped to accommodate special-needs students, as it includes a wheelchair lift and adjusted seating.
Officials from Nelson's Bus Service said that the two types of buses will provide “more variety and realism for the officers training in this particular scenario.”
The vehicles will be used by police training for active shooter scenarios that might occur on school buses.
“The buses add an uncommon element to the type of training attendees will receive,” said Rick Jensen, president of irTactical. “Our goal is to provide a very realistic training environment, and these buses inch us closer to that goal.”
The irTactical Active Shooter Training will be held June 8 to 10 at the University of Wisconsin’s Whitewater campus. Officials said it will focus on school shooters and rapid response situations.
