HIGH POINT, N.C. — Thomas Built Buses has named Caley Edgerly its vice president of operations.

Edgerly will oversee two bus body plants, a chassis plant, a component fabrication plant and related logistics operations, including more than 1 million square feet of facilities and more than 1,000 employees.

“Thomas Built is a national leader in the school bus industry, with a portfolio of innovative products that include new, environmentally-friendly technologies,” Edgerly said. “These are exciting and challenging times in the school bus industry, and I am pleased to be here as part of the Thomas Built team.”

Edgerly, who joined Detroit Diesel Corp. in 1994, previously served as director of product development and growth for Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing, and as general manager of Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing East. He has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University.

Edgerly succeeds Jeff Allen, who now serves as vice president of operations, Redford Truck Powertrain, for Detroit Diesel Corp. (which, like Thomas Built, is a subsidiary of Daimler).
