New website touts school bus benefits
The American School Bus Council launches SchoolBusFacts.com, which serves as the hub of a national public education campaign to promote school buses as the safest and best way to connect students with their schools.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American School Bus Council (ASBC) has launched SchoolBusFacts.com, a new website that details the benefits of the yellow school bus.
The website serves as the hub of the national public education campaign initiated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to promote school buses as the safest and best way to connect students with their schools.
“We could not be more thrilled with our partnership with NHTSA,” said Bob Riley, ASBC member and executive director of the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services. “SchoolBusFacts.com serves as an invaluable resource for us as a community of school bus advocates, and provides a one-stop shop of information for those curious about student ridership and education.”
ASBC and NHTSA have collaboratively created a variety of informational resources, including posters and other materials featuring eye-catching infographics, on why parents should choose the school bus over other modes of transportation for their kids. Now, with the launch of SchoolBusFacts.com, the school bus community plans to distribute these materials nationally in an effort to drive traffic to the new site and advocate for school bus ridership across the country.
“We’ve known for years that school buses are the safest way to get to and from school,” said Donnie Fowler, ASBC member and former president of the National School Transportation Association. “However, because we’re seeing school bus service cuts all over the country, now is the time to go out and tell those who may not already know that the school bus is the most effective and efficient way to transport our most precious resource, our children.”
